Chat With Gemini AI

The latest addition to the Omnibox is its integration with Google Gemini AI. To access the chatbot, type “@gemini,” followed by a space, and your query. Chrome will utilize the version of Gemini tied to your Google account, making it easier to interact with the AI directly from the browser.

Perform Quick Conversions

You can carry out any conversion in the Omnibox without opening another website. Simply type your conversion request, like “£34 in US dollars,” and the result will appear instantly below. No need to press Enter—Chrome is adept at recognizing common conversion phrases and displaying the answer.

Run Basic Calculations

The Omnibox can handle simple calculations as well. Whether it’s a straightforward sum like “352+91” or a more complex equation with brackets, the result will appear immediately below the text. Pressing Enter opens a more detailed calculator for further use.

Check the Weather

Wondering what the weather is like? Type “weather” in the Omnibox, and Chrome will show the current conditions based on your location. You can also add a specific city or postal code to get a forecast for that area. 

Search Through Your Bookmarks

Searching your bookmarks has never been easier. Start by typing the name of a bookmarks folder, then follow with a keyword or phrase. Chrome will instantly pull up related bookmarks without needing to open the Bookmark Manager.

Look Up Quick Definitions

For quick word definitions, just type “define,” followed by the word you need to look up. Chrome will show a basic definition right below the Omnibox. Press Esc to return to the URL you were viewing, and you’re back to browsing in seconds.

Access Instant Google Searches

Chrome’s Omnibox also allows users to access instant answers to common questions. For example, you can quickly check the height of famous landmarks, celebrity ages, stock prices, and more. Just type your query, and Chrome will fetch the result directly without needing you to click through search results.
